This is a collection of scattered ideas germinated from an acousmatic piece, Electrode, dating back from 2010. Entirely designed from a pink noise source, Electrode was intended to be the starting point of a Noise Symphony… that never saw the light of day.

In the meantime I got more and more involved with music production and group improvisation (notably with Unmapped and Stahlstuhl). After so many years on hiatus as a composer, the challenge represented by this series “In the room” offered me a unique chance to experiment a bit, albeit with very little time to delve into the process. This is why I decided to work on short tracks, mostly intended to be unfinished, all keeping at least one sound reference to Electrode. The only exception is represented by the last track, acting as a(n) (anti-)cathartic moment, where time is suspended, leaving Chronos to embrace Aiôn.

Main technique here is the (re-re-)reprocessing of the same few sources, until they become unrecognizable. I also had fun using editing functions such as strip silence and drum replacement in unorthodox ways. Additional synth recordings were done with the Virus TI2.

This album is the 16th and last one of the “In the room” series.

Planned, scheduled and realized in less than 3 months, “In the room” followed a shared urgency to react creatively to the frightening crisis that we are all living, as human beings and as a society. It took a lot of determination and a real sense of team work to have this done. For this reason I wish to thank all the artists involved, one by one – listed in the same order as they appear in the series :

Alberto Novello (JesterN)
Kevin Gironnay & Julien Vincenot
Otso Lähdeoja
Julien Bayle (twice !!)
Angelo Bello
Alessio Santini (my road companion in Elli since the very start)
Ben Peers
Unmapped
João Fernandes
Giona Vinti
Nicoló Terrasi
Deborah Walker
Sabina Covarrubias
Hadas Pe’ery

Last but not least, my deep gratitude goes to Paolo Cavinato, for sharing his unique talent and sensibility.
