Microphonies 21 is a piece that invites listeners to immerse themselves in sound.
The sound material is extracted from the Wuhan Tam-Gong and obtained by three playing modes : scraped, struck, rubbed. This material is then transformed by electronic processing and spatialized on a multi-channel system.
The first 21 minutes of the piece were sketched out during the 15th Saison d’art de Chaumont sur Loire in April 2022, for the performance “Matière Lumière” by visual artist Evi Keller.
It has been finalized in the Salle des Religieuses at Maubuisson Abbey to echo the mirror doors of the work “Nékromantéion” during the exhibition “Khépri, sortir au jour” by visual artist Félicie d’Estienne d’Orves in April 2023.
