This improvisation solo was played and recorded during the 2020 covid-19 pandemic lockdown. It was performed on a rehearsal day of the Grand8 ensemble, but alone in my room, and at the exact same time as my other colleagues of the ensemble played their own solo.
Contrary to a total soloist work where the only musical references are those that are generated at every moment, this solo was thought as if it was played collectively. The other instruments in the ensemble were always present in my subconscious. While I was improvising, I could imagine my music as the accompaniment of other instruments, or sometimes it responded to abstract musical requests, and sometimes it assumed the true position of a soloist.
This recording took place in the room where I usually play with my little baby. Whilst I was playing, I was immersed in our games, in our own language and our complicity. This recording is also the result of all those hours playing games with my kid during the lockdown.
