BIG | Bologna Improvisation Group

Created in 2022 by Francesco Giomi, within the School of Electronic Music of the Bologna Conservatory, this group is committed to the field of free electro-acoustic improvisation. Poly-instrumentalism and a radical and conscious approach to electronic music form the basis of a fresh and completely unpredictable sound.

The group has a continuously variable geometry and includes musicians from different backgrounds, united by a spirit of sonic research, technological experimentation and openness towards the plurality of musical expressions.

The album presents two different improvisational practices : the first is a conduction led by Francesco Giomi, the second is a live concert recorded during the “Aria-Suoni e Musica di Ricerca” event created by Tempo Reale, on June 15th 2023, at the park of Villa Strozzi in Florence.
